\r\n\r\nNightRose was born in 1968 in Kiwoko, Nakaseke District, Uganda. She was a hardworking woman who used to till the land to feed her family until 1991, when her body started to betray her. By 1992, NightRose couldn’t walk or stand anymore, as paralysis had taken over her legs and back. Her world crumbled.\r\n\r\n\r\nNightRose had a daughter, but she couldn’t take care of her anymore. The daughter had to drop out of school, and the father disappeared. The relatives also abandoned NightRose, leaving her to fend for herself and the child. NightRose was alone\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBut NightRose’s story didn’t end there. The Sapphire Africa Foundation found her crawling in an abandoned house with her grandchild, Robert. The boy was the only one who could take care of NightRose, cleaning her and cooking for her. The Foundation saw the potential in Robert and offered to sponsor his education. That meant that NightRose would be alone most of the time, but the Foundation kept supporting her through donations.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Nightrose and her grand child<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\r\n\r\nHowever, NightRose’s life took another turn for the worse. She was living in a family house, but land wrangles erupted, and she was evicted. A neighbor offered her a temporary shelter at night, but during the day, NightRose had to sit under a tree, exposed to the elements, waiting for Robert to bring her food and water. It was a heart-wrenching sight to see.\r\n\r\n\r\nBut there is hope. NightRose owns a piece of land nearby, which was sold to her by her late father. The Sapphire Africa Foundation wants to help NightRose build a modest house that she can call her own, a place where she can rest, sleep, and be safe. A single room can cost $750, a small price to pay for dignity and security.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
