Our Story

Sapphire Africa Foundation Journey

Welcome to Sapphire African Foundation! We embarked on our journey in 2014, commencing our operations in the resilient region of Northern Uganda. This region had endured the devastating consequences of the LRA war, resulting in the loss of numerous lives and leaving a profound impact on the affected communities.

Our story began with a transformative incident involving Paul Collins, one of the visionary founders of Sapphire African Foundation. While Paul was on a work assignment in Northern Uganda, a heart-wrenching encounter unfolded before him.

He came across a 13-year-old girl who had been sent home from school due to unpaid fees amounting to a mere $15. Overwhelmed by compassion, Paul witnessed the immediate repercussions of this financial barrier. The young girl's only option seemed to be entering into a forced marriage. Determined to make a difference, Paul stepped in and paid $45, covering the cost of her education for an entire year. This act marked the inception of a perpetual story of Sapphire African Foundation's commitment to empowering vulnerable children.

The realization struck Paul deeply when he understood that a mere $15 could disrupt a child's educational journey, leading them towards a future marred by early marriages, unexpected pregnancies, and other adversities. Poverty had taken its toll on Northern Uganda, and Paul, hailing from a background familiar with such hardships, could empathetically discern the dire circumstances faced by the local population. Driven by a profound sense of purpose, Sapphire African Foundation was founded to address the pressing challenges faced by disadvantaged children and communities across Africa. Our core mission is to uplift, empower, and transform lives through education, healthcare, and sustainable development initiatives.

Since our humble beginnings, Sapphire African Foundation has expanded its reach, touching the lives of countless individuals across Uganda, East Africa, and some countries in Africa. We are passionately dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty, promoting gender equality, and nurturing the untapped potential that resides within every child.
